Advanced Cancer Surgery – CRS + HIPEC is a specialized treatment approach for selected patients with cancers that have spread within the abdominal cavity. It combines Cytoreductive Surgery (CRS) with Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC).
CRS involves carefully removing visible cancer deposits from the abdominal cavity. The extent of surgery depends on the cancer type, location, spread, and the patient’s overall health.
Following cytoreductive surgery, HIPEC delivers heated chemotherapy directly into the abdominal cavity. This approach is designed to target microscopic cancer cells that may remain after surgery.
CRS and HIPEC may be considered for selected cases of peritoneal cancer spread, including certain colorectal, appendiceal, ovarian, gastric, and other abdominal cancers. Suitability is determined after detailed specialist evaluation.
Before treatment, patients may undergo imaging, blood tests, pathology review, and other assessments. A surgical oncology team evaluates the disease extent and overall fitness for this complex procedure.
Recovery varies depending on the surgery performed and individual health factors. Patients receive personalized postoperative monitoring, pain management, nutritional support, and follow-up care throughout recovery.
