Electrolyte & Acid–Base Disorder Management
Electrolytes such as sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and chloride play an essential role in maintaining fluid balance, nerve function, muscle activity, and overall health. An imbalance can occur due to kidney problems, dehydration, certain medications, gastrointestinal conditions, or other underlying illnesses.
Our electrolyte and acid–base disorder management service focuses on identifying the underlying cause and providing appropriate, individualized care. Evaluation may include blood and urine tests, electrolyte monitoring, kidney function assessment, and acid–base analysis to understand the patient’s condition accurately.
Conditions We Manage
Care may be provided for electrolyte imbalances, including abnormal sodium or potassium levels, as well as calcium and magnesium disturbances. We also assess and manage acid–base disorders such as metabolic acidosis and metabolic alkalosis, depending on the underlying cause and severity.
Diagnosis and Treatment
Treatment is tailored to each patient and may involve fluid and electrolyte correction, medication review, dietary guidance, treatment of the underlying condition, and regular laboratory monitoring. Patients with kidney disease or other chronic conditions may require ongoing assessment to maintain stable electrolyte and acid–base levels.
